Superb Carvery

Review for Plough Inn

We arrived at this Pub/Restaurant/Hotel on Sunday at 3pm. Bearing in mind it was Mother’s Day and we hadn’t booked, the accommodating owner, Val, found us and showed us to a table straight away. The place was quite busy with plenty of people in the bar area and also eating in the restaurant. The restaurant was a mixture of tables with two-, four- and six-place tables, with space to accommodate tables of 10 or more. Service was quick and efficient and we chose to have a two course meal. I chose my starter of minced lamb in filo parcels with a tzatziki dip. It was delicious. My partner chose smoked haddock pate wrapped in smoked salmon served with crunchy fresh bread slices, also delicious. We both chose to have the carvery, with a choice of beef (melted in your mouth), pork (lovely and tender) or turkey, accompanied by yorkshire pudding, stuffing (which was absolutely delicious with bacon and sausagemeat), roast potatoes, savoy cabbage, leeks in cheese sauce, carrots, swede, broccoli and the most delicious gravy ever. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the services was excellent. A good range of drinks, beers and wines.
